Do you want to know what I learned from someone who gets tens of thousands and millions of views on his TikTok videos?
This is Part 1 of a series of blog posts on this subject that I call The Social Media Viral Video Formula!
I am fortunate to be part of a marketing training program where my mentor, Dean Holland, ‘dabbles’ in TikTok using his video formula and regularly gets tens of thousands of views and even millions. It’s crazy.
All I can say is this is a proven formula since his results speak volumes.
Now, you can learn what this formula is right here!
However, the truth is that I have even more inside secrets and tips he uses in my Get Rich Forever email newsletter. To access this email newsletter, click here and subscribe.
If you’re interested, you’ll also receive five free training videos and a free book offer for The Iceberg Effect. If not, that’s fine; you’ll still receive access to the email newsletter.
The first thing I’ll mention is that getting many views is a way of building an audience of fans on a social media platform.
The more people view your content, the more followers or subscribers you get. The more followers or subscribers you have, the more people will follow your other content on other platforms or your assets, such as your blog or website. Eventually, you can lead them to products where they can buy a product, making you money!
So, it all starts with views. How can we increase views from tens to hundreds to thousands, tens of thousands, and eventually millions? Think about how powerful it is to understand how to structure your content to maximize viewership. This is the primary goal of this training.
This formula and structure work on short-form videos that are popular on TikTok; however, they can be used for ANY posts on other platforms.
It doesn’t matter whether the platform focuses on written, audio, or visual content (or a mix of all three). Using this structure works for all of them.
Next, understanding how people consume information on social media platforms is essential.
As you probably know, our feeds are filled with many posts from different people and companies.
People scroll through the posts and eventually stop when they find something interesting.
So, the first thing we need to do is Stop The Scroll!
Let’s repeat it: Stop The Scroll!!
Stopping the scroll means that someone is scrolling through stuff, sees your video or post, and sees or hears something on your post that catches their attention and stops them from continuing scrolling.
How does one do this?
This is the 1st part of the formula.
If we can’t Stop The Scroll, our views will remain the same, and we’ll never reach huge numbers.
So, let’s take a moment to talk about how to do this.
Step 1: The Hook
The Hook is essentially something we say or do in a video or something we show, such as text or a picture, that grabs someone’s attention immediately and makes them stop scrolling to consume our content.
In a video, for example, the hook takes place in the first few seconds of the video.
There are different types of hooks.
The first is what you say. Saying something catchy is one type of hook. If you saw a video and someone said, “I’m in pain,” would you stop scrolling to see what the person is talking about? Maybe. It’s better than saying, “Hello, my name is Derek”. Do you see the difference?
The second type of hook is something you do. It could be something funny, bizarre, or interesting, or it could be something as simple as movement. This is possibly the easiest one. Turning around to talk to the camera is movement, and it can catch people’s attention.
The third type of hook is something you show. In a video, this could be text with a headline across the top. This is the same concept as using a headline in a written post. A video with “Top 25 performing video hooks” written across the top can work to get people interested in learning about this to stop and watch the video.
Part 1 of this formula is critical. Use hooks to get attention, and views should increase!
My next post will dive into Step 2: The Buildup.
I can’t wait to share this with you. Stay tuned!
