Welcome! I’m glad you are here.
Here is The Social Media Viral Video Formula Part 2: The Buildup
After learning this, I realized that I miss this part regularly, ugh!
Before I proceed, if you haven’t read Part 1: The Hook, click here to do so. It’s helpful to read this first.

Ok, so what is The Buildup all about?
As a quick prelude, the main objective of the Social Media Viral Formula is to increase the views of our social media content.
Part 1, The Hook (or a headline), gets people to Stop the Scroll as they thumb through content on their smartphone and watch or read our material.
The Buildup is what comes right after The Hook.
Let’s say you make a video that has a snazzy hook that gets much attention.
How do you get people to hang around and continue watching your video?
The answer: with The Buildup.
The Buildup is like a tie-in at the end of the Hook that gets people to continue viewing your video (same concept if you are writing a post or for an audio post).
I never thought about this part before learning it, to be honest.
After the “hook,” I always thought the next part was to discuss the topic or subject of the post.
Now that I know about the buildup, I realize how important this is.
Imagine if I made a video about bonsai trees.
My headline might be something like “3 Mind-Blowing Bonsai Trees”. This might not be a super snazzy headline, but I just want to keep it simple so you understand the tie-in between the hook/headline and the buildup.
After the hook, I could then say, “The 3rd one is unbelievable”.
What? The 3rd one? What is the 3rd one? What is this guy talking about?
Isn’t this what some people would think?
Wouldn’t that help catch your attention and increase your desire to learn what the 3rd one is?
It creates intrigue. It’s mysterious.
Now you have to stick around for a while to learn what the 3rd bonsai tree is.
The great thing is that this part is short and sweet. It doesn’t need to be anything long or challenging to put together.
All that is needed for the buildup is a short and simple statement to induce curiosity, intrigue, and the desire to watch the video.
It’s pretty amazing, right?
But, it’s easy to forget about this.
So, the next time you post on social media, include a buildup phrase, and see what happens!
