This post is about the starting point- where I am beginning my journey.
As I mentioned in the last post, my main objective here is to build a ‘passive income’ online business with affiliate marketing. This means generating consistent income and working less to earn it over time.
What I need initially is:
- A basic blueprint/framework/process for building an online business through affiliate marketing
- Products to sell
- A website to sell products on
- A marketing strategy to find interested customers and bring them to my website
If I did not mention previously, affiliate marketing is selling other company’s products. The reason I want to do this, instead of selling products of my own, is because I do not have anything of my own to sell. Plus, I do not want to create a product. It will take too much time and I am not interested in doing it.
Some other benefits of selling other company’s products is that I do not have to get involved with customer service, product research and development, and everything else involved with having products of my own.
All I want to do is focus on marketing, advertising, sales, and promotion, and using automated strategies to build a true passive income business. In the long term, if I can get good at these things, I could eventually create products and sell them online.
To me, affiliate marketing is a great way to start a new online business, or generally make money online.
Here is what I have done to get started so far:
- In November 2023, I joined an affiliate marketing training program with Dean Holland’s Internet Profits company and became a Certified Partner. In December, Dean introduced a new, updated program called The Beginners Advantage which I also joined. This program provides a true step-by-step blueprint for starting a new affiliate marketing business and endless training on a variety of topics. I have gone through about half of the training so far.
- I subscribed to a webpage and funnel site builder, WordPress management, and email marketing system through Dean called Affiliate Systems. He created it specifically for people with affiliate marketing businesses to manage their business better. I have used numerous web page builders and email marketing systems in the past and I like Affiliate Systems the best.
- I started a blog (this one) by setting up a website domain, connecting it to WordPress, building a general layout for the website/blog, and writing my first blog post.
This week, I am setting up an email to use and creating an email list builder offer.
I plan to offer some of Dean’s training videos to those who are interested in starting their own online business for free and add their email addresses to my email list. I will send out periodic emails to my subscribers with all of the useful information I am learning about building an online business so they can use it for themselves. I will also add some giveaway offers, product offers, and other things in the future.
Besides setting up an email and creating an offer, the other component I am working on next is generating traffic.
