I created this website to document my journey of building an online income (and eventually achieving passive income), and to share the strategies I use for others to learn from and apply in their own lives.
For the past sixteen years, I’ve been an entrepreneur running a business in the employee benefits industry. It’s a rewarding field, but not exactly simple. The products take months to put in place, involve heavy amounts of paperwork, and require long sales cycles.
When I began incorporating online marketing strategies to grow my business, I started to realize the vast world of digital marketing and digital products. The ease of a customer purchasing a digital product on a webpage and getting instant access was an exciting idea. I discovered that there are ways to leverage online strategies to create an additional income stream that can become passive income, allowing for more freedom of time without the concern of generating revenue.
That contrast is what sparked my interest in building an online business. I want to learn a new set of skills, ones that are fast, flexible, and highly relevant in today’s economy.
Why An Online Business?
With affiliate marketing, I can promote digital products that customers receive immediately, delivered right to their inbox or a webpage. The buying process is streamlined: a simple shopping cart, instant access, and the ability to enhance sales with features like bump offers and upsells.
Also, as an affiliate marketer, I don’t have to create the products, which I don’t want to do at this stage. Instead, I’ll promote other companies’ products. This saves me a lot of time and effort.
Which products will I promote? As I seek systems, strategies, and techniques to grow my online business and acquire digital and online marketing skills, I’ll become an affiliate for the companies that I get advice from. If I like a product or resource, it’ll be easier to promote it to others.
Along this journey, I’ll be learning how to:
- Identify affiliate programs with in-demand digital products
- Build sales pages, websites, and opt-in forms
- Master the art of digital marketing
- Use social media and online ads to drive traffic
These skills aren’t just valuable for this side business- they’re transferable. They can strengthen my existing employee benefits company and any future ventures I take on.
My Starting Point
Right now, my first revenue goal is to consistently earn $3,000+ per month. At the time of writing this, my online income is exactly $0.
Yes, it’s going to take a lot of effort upfront. But after years of thinking about it, I’ve finally committed to doing the work—and documenting it here.
The Plan
To grow this business, I’ll be testing different tools, systems, and strategies, including:
- Online training programs
- Done-for-you business solutions
- Sales funnel frameworks
- Email marketing systems
My goal is to discover which methods make building an online income easier, faster, and more scalable. Everything I learn, both the wins and the mistakes, I’ll share here on this blog.
