I mentioned this previously, but I love tracking clicks on the links I share on social media posts. Math is my thing, and I find it fascinating to put a link in the content I share and watch how many clicks it gets.
Using link clicks is also critical to gauge what the audience likes. If there are no clicks, no one cares, and it might not be exciting or essential. If a link gets a lot of clicks, then I know I shared something of interest to them.
However, my dilemma is that I have a significant difference in the number of clicks I get on some links, while other links get no clicks.
My affiliate links for affiliate products have been getting tons of clicks. I’m really excited by the results. They are all doing well. But I have other links with URLs connected with my blog’s domain that have been getting almost no clicks. I feel like there might be an issue with the tracking.
Two websites/companies track the clicks for the affiliate product links and the website domain links. Maybe the affiliate product link clicks are being inflated, or the website/domain link clicks are missing.
Today, I figured out a solution. I made an opt-in webpage with a URL connected to my domain for an affiliate product. I will use this URL instead of the affiliate link on a few social media posts today.
Everything else in the post is the same—I am using the same product description I used before for the affiliate product. But now, the clicks on the social media posts will be tracked by the company tracking my website/domain links, not the company tracking the affiliate product links. Do you see where I am going with this?
I will now wait a day and see what happens. This is fascinating to me. I will report back with the results!
