Cheat Sheets I Use When Creating Content

Am I going to be really blunt here- creating content can be a lot of work. It takes time to think of topics to write about and then even longer to type it out and proofread it.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy it, but it can be time-consuming. Some days my brain doesn’t work as fast as others. Can you relate?

As a result, I have a few ‘cheat sheets’ or ‘cheat codes’ so-to-speak that help me generate new ideas and topics to talk about.

The funny part is that there are so many things to write about that I sometimes trip myself up because I over think it.

Even still, it is good to have some ways to help get my brain going and come up with new content. Here are some things I use that help me:

  1. List of Hooks- I have a Word document with hooks that I refer back to at least a few times a week. I sometimes use hooks in my content to help make a post more exciting. Some of the hooks add mystery, some are dramatic, others are a bit controversial (nothing too crazy though). With so much content available to people online, I like to add a little more flavor to my posts to stand out from the crowd and get some extra attention.
  2. Video recordings of training—this is a huge one for me. I can listen to old training videos about how to grow an online business or about sales and marketing, and in 20-30 minutes, my brain gets flooded with new ideas. I ask myself, “How did I forget to write about that topic?” I listen to recordings mainly while I am at the gym. It is my best form of multitasking!
  3. Similar to video recordings, I love to read books on entrepreneurship, business, sales and marketing, or anything related to making money. Books are full of ideas, and I come up with new things when rereading a chapter or section.
  4. At the beginning of the week, I like to sit with a notepad and write out topics I can post during the week. It helps to focus on this one task for some time with no other distractions.
  5. I think about what I am doing today to build my online business, even the small things. People get value from learning the small nuisances of a business’s day-to-day operation. Also, these are the easiest to write about because I’m simply documenting what I am doing.

So there you have it! I hope this helps someone out there looking for ways to inspire new ideas for content creation!
