One mistake I made in the past with affiliate marketing was not having a blog.
After years of struggling with affiliate marketing, I realized that I needed coaching and mentorship. One of the main principles of a successful affiliate business I was taught was to have a blog.
Some of the reasons are straightforward, and another one really surprised me.
The blog is the affiliate’s home base. It contains the affiliate’s top ideas, thoughts, techniques, and personal experiences in the blog posts. It is also the home base for product offers (I would also include the email list as another home base for product offers).
A blog also makes the affiliate look legitimate. Without a blog (or a website, in general), the audience might think the affiliate is not too serious or just dabbling in it. The presence of the blog helps build trust and credibility with the audience.
An interesting twist on why the blog has helped my affiliate business is that the majority of the ‘results’ come from my blog. People generally do not click on the product offers I post on social media. Instead, most of the interest in total clicks, opt-ins, etc., comes from my blog.
In other words, I would lose most of the results if I did NOT have a blog! This is an amazing realization.
With this said, I am still in the beginning stages of building my affiliate business, so things could change.
If it does change, I will post any updates here on my blog! Stay tuned.
