Are you using these three types of marketing traffic in your business?
Today, I’m revisiting the three types of traffic I learned from several marketers in the past.
- Traffic I control
- Traffic I do not control
- Traffic I own
An example of traffic I control is paid advertising. I control where I place my ads and can customize who sees them based on location, age, interests, etc. I then pay for my ads to be placed and pay for clicks.
The traffic I do not control might be from social media posts, blogging, forums, and search engine optimization. In these cases, who will find my content and how many will click on my links is less predictable. Using these platforms is often free, making them a valuable form of traffic generation.
Then, there is traffic I own. This is the best type because it incorporates the two best elements of the previous two types of traffic: control over who sees my content and offers, and it is free.
How do I generate traffic that I own?
By building an email list of people who have shown an interest in my content and want to continue receiving emails from me with helpful information that helps them.
With an email list, I control the content I send them (and the product offers I send), and it is free.
I use traffic I control and traffic I do not control to build an email list. It can take longer to grow subscribers to the list, but it is beneficial in the long term.
