Ideas & Strategies I Incorporated Into My Business In August 2024 (That You Can Learn From)

If you follow my documentation and journey of growing my online business here at BusinessBuildingOnline.com, you’ll want to see what I did this month.

I share all of this to help others grow their online businesses. I hope you get value from it!

  1. This month, I focused on completing my ‘portfolio’ of social media posts that I use to drive traffic to my blog. Earlier this year, I created 60 social media posts with content about sales, marketing, growing an online business, and affiliate marketing. Then, I revised them in May, June, July, and August and reposted them. Revising them this Spring took a lot of time, but now I like the posts and feel comfortable simply reposting them (or making minor changes as needed). Here are the core ideas and strategies for doing this:
    • These posts are my ‘evergreen’ content that I plan to continue reposting. I designed them to be educational, which means the information will continue to be relevant and can be posted again. I think of this as the ‘Spaced Repetition Technique’ for posting content on social media. I explain what spaced repetition is in the next bullet point.
    • The plan is to repost them over a 2-3 month period of time and then continue reposting every 2-3 months. The great part is that I don’t have to spend time creating and revising them. Of course, I will create new content, too. But here is an interesting point: I know from previous sales training and experience that people must see information multiple times before genuinely learning it. Similarly, there is a learning technique called Spaced Repetition, which states that learning is enhanced by spacing out the time before reviewing information again. So, posting the same content every 2-3 months is OK since someone who saw a post 2-3 months ago probably doesn’t remember the content and gets value from seeing it again.
    • From a business perspective, the MAIN reason I built a portfolio of posts is that I know that the more posts I make, the more views I get, and the bigger my audience will grow. This audience will eventually buy products. Now that I have a portfolio of 60 posts, I can repost content quicker than before because I don’t have to create it from scratch.
    • And guess what? If I have limited time one week or go on vacation, I have lots of content I can easily schedule to be posted automatically over the week to keep things moving forward. Evergreen content is an essential component of AUTOMATING stuff like social media posts, making it easier to build my business.
  2. I put a banner on my blog for my free training video offer for Holland’s Iceberg Method, the process I use to build my online business. Now, anyone who sees the banner when reading a blog post can click it and opt-in on the opt-in page. Having the banner increases exposure to the offer, improving results over time. Also, I can add another banner in the future to promote other offers or products.
  3. What I learned from posting social media content on Quora:
    • I’ve been posting content in Quora for about six months and posting content in Quora ‘spaces’ for about four months. Posting in spaces has definitely helped increase views of my posts.
    • However, I noticed that the admins of the spaces don’t always accept my posts, which means I have to check them constantly and repost somewhere else when an admin doesn’t accept a post. For example, I posted 20 times in spaces in August, and only 11 were accepted. This means nine were not posted in the space, so I had to post them in another space later on. The worst part is there is no reason provided as to why a post is not accepted to the space, so I have no idea if something in the content is causing an issue or something else. If I know the reason, I can fix it so it is accepted the next time.
    • The problem is the extra time tracking posts to see if they are accepted. It is a negative aspect of using Quora. And since Quora is not a leading platform like FaceBook, TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram, I expect the platform to be easy to use. If not, I have more incentive to change platforms to one of the big four. Let’s see what happens. If I continue to be frustrated, I plan to use one of the big platforms, probably TikTok, as I have heard from other people in the online business building space that TikTok is a great platform to use right now.

As you can see, a lot is going on! September will be an exciting month, so stay tuned for more follow-ups on my progress!
